At C-MASTERS, we have created a selection of 'must do' courses. After several years of providing training we know which topics and skills are considered complex by students. Most of these topics are covered in the RYA shorebased courses and in practical courses. However, a more intensive training is needed to become a confident skipper.
The modern sailing world is moving towards electronic navigation and the use chartplotters for managing your journey on the water has become common practice. As fantastic as these tools are, they require the user to have a deeper understanding of how navigational methods actually work. Understand the information presented, and more importantly: how to use it for efficient and safe navigation.
This course is a must do for anyone who wants to be skilled and confident in navigating in difficult waters or at night, including the use of chart plotters and radar.
MASTERCLASS : Advanced Navigation and Pilotage
Course content
This is the course you need to master the art of effective navigation during pilotage. We will teach you advanced navigational techniques, as well as acquainted with pilotage planning and smart tactical techniques for close quarter navigation. After you have participated in this course, you will be equipped with a solid understanding and knowledge of how to deal with difficult and demanding navigational areas.

- Pilotage strategies
- Developing a pilotage plan

- Safe passage making in darkness
- Blind navigation
- Recognising lights on ships, buoys and ashore
